Basic Introduction to Watercity Walnuts According to introductions, the Watercity walnut is also known as “Xue Ning Hong,” which gets its name from producing red flowers and having frost and snow resistance characteristics. Ordinary walnuts produce yellow flowers and typically take 11 years to mature. In contrast, “Xue Ning Hong” produces red flowers, can flower and bear fruit in the second year after planting, and flowers and bears fruit multiple times a year. While ordinary walnuts have fruits that grow in clusters with only two or three nuts per cluster, “Xue Ning Hong” walnuts have fruits that grow in spikes, with each spike bearing around 30 nuts. This type of walnut is known for being high-yielding, stable, and having a good taste.
