Basic Introduction to Huangchuan Strawberries
Huangchuan Town is renowned as the No. 1 Strawberry Town in China, with a strawberry plantation area exceeding ten thousand mu (approximately 667 hectares). The strawberries are heart-shaped, bright red and tender, with juicy flesh that is both sweet and sour, and have a distinctive, rich fruity aroma. Due to their excellent color, fragrance, and taste, as well as their high nutritional value, including abundant Vitamin C, which aids digestion, they are known as the “Queen of Fruits.”
Nutritional Value
1. Strawberries are rich in vitamins and minerals, containing up to 80 mg of Vitamin C per 100 grams, significantly more than apples and pears. They also contain glucose, fructose, citric acid, malic acid, carotene, riboflavin, and other nutrients that are beneficial for children's growth and development and the health of the elderly.
2. The primary nutritional value of strawberries lies in their high Vitamin C content. Vitamin C can prevent gum bleeding, promote wound healing, and make the skin soft and elastic. Recent studies have found that Vitamin C has a positive preventative effect on diseases such as arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, cerebral hemorrhage, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, aside from preventing scurvy.
3. The carotene in strawberries is essential for synthesizing Vitamin A, which improves vision and supports liver health.
4. Latest research abroad indicates that strawberries contain a type of amine that may be effective in treating leukemia and aplastic anemia.

History and Folklore
Huangchuan Strawberry Picking Garden leverages its extensive strawberry plantation and convenient transportation to build “three tourism zones” along the “Huangping Highway,” namely the 1,000-mu Nanwan Strawberry Picking Garden, the 200-mu Strawberry Science Demonstration Zone, and the 1,000-mu Tao Li Strawberry Ecological Tourism Park. These zones form a comprehensive rural tourism park where visitors can pick fresh strawberries, observe agricultural technology, experience rural life, and enjoy ecological sightseeing, scientific research, and technological promotion. The park receives around 150,000 visitors each year. In 2010, it passed the provincial inspection for a “two-star agricultural ecotourism demonstration site.”
In 2001, the town registered the “Huangchuan” brand strawberry trademark with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce; in 2002, it obtained provincial certification for pollution-free agricultural products; and by the end of 2003, it received national certification for pollution-free agricultural products and production bases. In 2007, the “Huangchuan” brand strawberries won national recognition as “green food,” Jiangsu Province's “famous product,” Lianyungang City's “well-known trademark,” and Jiangsu Province's “famous trademark.” In 2010, the town was awarded the title of “Strawberry Hometown” by the state. Two successful strawberry festivals were held, creating a beautiful business card and achieving good social effects.
