History and Folklore
“Golden Thread King Jujubes” are a local high-quality variety discovered and cultivated by the people of Běipiào.
In 2016, the “Golden Thread King Jujube” variety was listed as a demonstration project for forestry science and technology promoted by central government finance, winning the gold award at China's first “Forest Food Expo.” The Forestry Bureau of Běipiào City dispatched 60 party members and cadres to new planting sites to help coordinate seedlings, provide support to specific plots, and guide specific planting techniques. They distributed over 10,000 copies of materials such as the “Manual of Harmless Cultivation Techniques for Fresh Jujubes” and the “Practical Manual of Jujube Techniques” free of charge to jujube farmers.
In 2016, the newly planted area of jujubes in Běipiào City reached over 500 hectares, with 90% of the plots meeting the engineering acceptance standards for survival rates. The city's total planting area of “Golden Thread King Jujubes” has reached 2,000 hectares.

In 2009, Běipiào City was named the “Hometown of Golden Thread King Jujubes” by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Forestry Bureau, and four other provincial departments.
On March 15, 2013, the original General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for “Běipiào Golden Thread King Jujubes.”
