Lema Peanut-1

Basic Introduction to Lema Peanut

The Lema peanut has fine reticulation on its thin yet tough skin. The kernel is oval-shaped, pinkish, and glossy. When eaten fresh, it is crisp, fragrant, and sweet; when cooked, it is aromatic, crunchy, and processes well.

Suyuan District is located in the eastern part of Henan Province, with flat terrain and fertile soil. The soil is mostly sandy , having a deep tillage layer and a pH value ranging from 7.5 to 8.2. It contains 1.74% organic matter, 1.22 g/kg total nitrogen, 15.3 mg/kg available phosphorus, and 125 mg/kg available potassium. The soil is permeable, free from pollution sources, and has few pests and diseases, making it very suitable for peanut cultivation. Suyuan District belongs to the Huai River Basin, with abundant water resources. The annual average total water resource (surface and groundwater) is 341.3 million cubic meters. Groundwater is the primary source of water supply, characterized by shallow depth, rapid replenishment, good water quality, suitable , and easy extraction. Surface water resources come from precipitation and incoming water. Two main rivers, the Gusu River and Dasha River, traverse the entire district, with an annual average incoming water volume of over 100 million cubic meters. The groundwater quality is good, with mineralization of less than 2 g/L in shallow groundwater, mostly 2 g/L in middle-layer groundwater, and completely less than 1.5 g/L in deep groundwater as fresh water. Surface water quality is also good, generally with a pH value of 6-9, dissolved oxygen of 5.6-12.5 mg/L, biochemical oxygen demand of 1.4-4.7 mg/L, and rich in selenium. The groundwater quality meets national irrigation water standards. Suyuan District has a warm temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate, with distinct seasons. The annual sunshine duration is 2,508.9 hours, the annual average temperature is 13.9°C, the July average temperature is 27.1°C, and the January average temperature is -0.9°C. The annual average precipitation is 679.5 mm. The environmental conditions for growing peanuts are exceptionally favorable.

The protected geographical for Lema peanut agricultural product registration covers six townships within Suyuan District: Lema Township, Linhedian Township, Guzhen Town, Loustore Township, Maogudui Town, and Luhe Town, involving 86 administrative villages such as Wuqiying and Jiaozhuang. Suyuan District of Shangqiu is located on the eastern of Henan Province, in the south of Shangqiu City, north of Liangyuan District, east of Shangqiu New Area and Yucheng , west of Ningling County, and south of Zhecheng County. The protected range's geographical coordinates are from 115°22′47″E to 115°30′36″E and 34°10′50″N to 34°20′55″N. The registered peanut production area is 7,800 hectares, with a total output of approximately 47,000 tons.

Product Characteristics

The external sensory characteristics of Lema peanuts include fine reticulation, thin yet tough skin, oval-shaped kernels that are pinkish and glossy. When eaten fresh, they are crisp, fragrant, and sweet; when cooked, they are aromatic, crunchy, and process well. The intrinsic quality indicators show that Lema peanuts have a fat content (dry basis) of ≥52.1 g/100g, ≥28.8 mg/kg, and oleic relative to total fatty acids of ≥78%. Safety requirements dictate that the production environment of Lema peanuts must comply with the technical conditions for the origin environment of non-polluted food field crops. The product quality must meet the standards for non-polluted food peanut products. The use of unregistered or prohibited agricultural inputs is strictly forbidden. Standardized production is promoted to ensure the safety and quality of peanuts.
