Historical Folklore
The main grape-producing areas are concentrated in the northern plains, which geologically belong to part of the Wei River graben. According to morphological features, they can be divided into alluvial fans at the foot of the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains, marginal depressions, loess plateaus, Wei River terraces, and floodplain areas, with elevations ranging from 600 to 388 meters. The terrain slopes gently from south to north and from west to east, with deep and fertile soil, making it a suitable area for growing grapes.
Additionally, the cultivation of grapes in Huxian has a long history. There are records of cultivating grapes since the Zhou Dynasty, accompanied by beautiful sayings such as “wind rushing under the sunset, birds singing in the night sky.” The poem “grape wine in a night luminous cup” by the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Han has also been passed down through the ages.
