History and Folklore
“Xiaoshan Large Green Plum” (Xiaoshan selenium-rich green plum) is a famous specialty product of Zhejiang and one of the notable fruits in southern China. It is mainly produced in Zhuwu Village, Evolution Town, the “Green Plum Capital” of Zhejiang Province. Cultivation started during the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty (976-997), more than a thousand years ago. According to Huang Yuezun's “Flower Path,” “Xiaoshan plums are originally from Zhejiang, hence they are called Xiaoshan plums.” They are considered the finest among all plums.
