The tea production history of Fenggang dates back a long way and is mentioned by the tea sage Lu Yu in his book “The Classic of Tea.” Fenggang Zinc and Selenium Rich Tea is characterized by its green and lustrous color, bright green infusion, rich flavor, and tender, vibrant green leaves at the bottom. In January 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for Fenggang Zinc and Selenium Rich Tea.

Product Characteristics

The Fenggang Zinc and Selenium Rich Tea has tightly twisted Maojian tea with a fine, flat, and smooth appearance, a green and lustrous color, a high aroma, a bright green infusion, a rich flavor, and tender, vibrant green leaves at the bottom. The tea is rich in 17 amino acids required by the human body and multiple trace elements such as zinc and selenium, with zinc content ranging from 40mg/kg to 100mg/kg, and selenium content from 0.25mg/kg to 3.5mg/kg.

Historical Folklore

The tea production history of Fenggang is extensive. In his 's first book on tea, “The Classic of Tea,” the tea sage of the Tang Dynasty, Lu Yu, recorded in Chapter Eight: “Tea grows in the region of Qianzhong, including Sizhou, Bozhou, Feizhou, and Yizhou… when obtained, its is excellent.” It has been confirmed that the administrative center of Yizhou was the present-day Suinyang in Fenggang County. In the Song Dynasty, “The Chronicles of Huayang” recorded that “Pingyi produces tea and honey.” Le Shi's “Taiping寰yuji” recorded that “Yizhou, Bozhou, and Sizhou offered tea as tribute.” 's “Mei Yi Suibi” also mentioned that “Longquan produces Yunwu bud tea with unparalleled color and taste.” Among them, Yizhou, Sizhou, and Longquan all refer to the area around Fenggang County, Zunyi City.
