Historical Folklore
The wooden toy industry in Yunhe started in the early 1970s. After the reform and opening up, particularly following Deng Xiaoping's Southern Tour, the wooden toy industry in Yunhe experienced a development boom. Numerous wooden toy enterprises emerged, and the number of people engaged in the toy industry surged, accounting for one-fifth of the county's population, creating a scene where “every household was involved in the toy business.”
In 1992, Yunhe began planning and constructing its special industrial park, making the wooden toy industry more concentrated, standardized, and distinctive. The industrial park is an essential part of Yunhe's urbanization efforts. The park was planned and constructed according to high standards, ecological principles, and garden-style design, covering an area of 9.7 square kilometers, divided into near, medium, and long-term phases. It gradually developed into a new platform for Yunhe's integration with the Yangtze River Delta region, technological cooperation, service management, and opening up to the outside world. In 1994, during the first national specialty hometown competition, Yunhe was named “China's Wooden Toy Hometown.”
