Basic Introduction to Cenxi Red Granite
Cenxi City, known as the “Capital of Granite,” is the largest granite production base in China. “Cenxi Red” granite is a high-quality and luxurious building material.
Product Features
Cenxi Red is one of the red series granites, characterized by uniform texture, bright color, and natural beauty, comparable to “Indian Red” and “Brazilian Red.” It is produced in Cenxi and bears the distinct features of Cenxi, hence named Cenxi Red. After polishing, it exhibits an even brighter, more lustrous, and vibrant sheen.
History and Folklore
The reserves of granite in Cenxi are extremely abundant, reaching 2.1 billion cubic meters. More than 200 mines have been developed across the city, equipped with nearly 1,500 circular saws and 43,543 polishing machines. Over 400 slab factories have been established, and six advanced production lines imported from abroad. The annual production capacity for rough granite blocks can reach 300,000 cubic meters, and for slabs, over 10 million square meters. After more than two decades of mining and processing, Cenxi now produces various specifications of slabs, irregular shapes, and crafts, and the granite industry has reached a significant scale.
Distinguishing Authenticity
One: Differences Between Granite and Marble
Granite and marble are both generic commercial names that have some relation to rock types in geology but also significant differences. Granite refers to igneous rocks and some acidic metamorphic rocks with decorative functions that can be polished and honed.
Two: Identification of Color Lines and Color Spots
In granite stone, color lines and spots are formed during the rock formation process or later due to the localized concentration of certain minerals or their encapsulation by other minerals. They appear as band-like or nodular structures in granite stones. The main mineral components are quartz and dark minerals such as biotite and hornblende. Quartz often forms quartz veins in rocks and appears as white bands in stone materials. Dark minerals like biotite and hornblende form band-like or nodular structures due to different causes.
Three: Identifying Dyed Stone Materials
Since granite is composed of several minerals, there are often clear gaps between these minerals where pigments can easily accumulate. If pigment accumulation is observed between minerals, it is likely a dyed stone. Observe the side of the stone slab; regardless of the pattern on the granite, the sides of naturally colored, undyed stone are generally white. In contrast, the colors on dyed granite slabs always appear somewhat unnatural, giving an artificial impression.
Awards and Honors of Cenxi Red Granite
In October 2006, Cenxi was awarded the title of “China's Capital of Granite” by the China Stone Industry Association. “CenHong” brand granite slabs received “Gold Prizes” at the National Seventh Five-Year Plan Achievement Exposition and the National Building Materials and Decoration Exhibition.
